Premium Hindi Oud Wood, 20g

The most abundant and consistent wood today is no doubt that of India, and the best of it comes from the plantations of Assam, Manipur and Nagaland. These are no ordinary plantations, the trees are free from chemicals and left to grow in a manner similar to the wild, across vast estates that stretch as far as the eye can see, many of them decades old and kept within the same family across generations. These dark resin dense chunks give the most mesmerising burn session upon coal or an electric burner, filling the room with a dense smoky yet creamy and fruity Hindi aroma, and 20g is enough to return to evening after evening rather than saving it for special occasions.

Koh Kong Kambodi Oud Oil, 2.5g

Cambodian oud is famed above all for its sweetness, and Koh Kong, in the far southwest where the Cardamom Mountains run down to the sea, is one of its most cherished regions. Where the Hindi on the coal is bold and smoky, this oil is its sweeter counterpart on the skin, honeyed and fruity, shifting and evolving over the hours in a way no synthetic oud ever will. At 3g it is not a sample to be rationed but an oil to wear properly, day after day.

Hojari Green Frankincense, 30g

From the mountains of Dhofar in southern Oman comes Hojari, long regarded as the finest frankincense in the world, and the green grade is among the most prized of it. Bright, citrus and clean upon the coal, it has been the companion to oud in Arabian homes for as long as either has been burned. Start with a few tears before the wood, let the room settle, then bring in the Hindi and watch the two layer together.
