Maroke

For every collector, there are those items that are for purely for the sake of collecting. The items which cannot be bought or reasoned for, the items we would not ever let go, the ones we plan to pass down to our kin folk.

For the veteran oud collectors, we anticipate a time when the very oils we hold will be like crown jewels, fetching exuberant amounts perhaps in the most prominent auctions & sharing these in the future, just as the veteran collectors today do to showcase the gems of the past.

The Nawadir Al Arab collection is a golden opportunity to experience some of the finest oud oil there is, the sort of gems that the veteran collectors have secured in their vaults.

Maroke is the most famous oud region for vintage Indonesian oud oil, and perhaps for vintage oud in general, several legendary artisanal oils hail from here, whether it be the SQ collection or others.

The only oil I've ever retailed from Maroke was also the most unique oud oil I've ever had, a menthol & sweet leathery like oil, that was suited to almost any environment - a perfume almost.

Now we only had a little of that, which ran out promptly when many came the realisation we did - this was something too unique to miss out on. It went as quick as it came, with one friend taking the last tola we managed to scrape out, which he also spilled upon opening it - such was the excitement! 

The requests continued, but the search left us empty handed, unless we wanted to commission a new batch and wait 5 years to age it - with no guarantee we could replicate it.

Now why the back story? We could certainly just retail this as another 20-30 year old Maroke oil, from a vault of one of the greatest oud collectors alongside several members of royalty. But we wanted to emphasise just how special this oil makes us feel, the very triumph it represents and the fact that it eclipses our previous legendary Maroke oil. 

Maroke opens with a petrichor & vetiver like aura, the familiar dew and almost ethereal experience when walking through a wet woodland or jungle. Thereafter, comes the menthol & spearmint, embedded in a rich molasses like sweetness. 

The base strikingly strides in, composed of an extremely rich & leather like oud. Radiating elegance & an aura that truly represents the mind numbing and and zen like a of one of nature's finest aromatics that we affectionately know to be oud.
